GO, GO, GO JOSEPH!

ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and TIM RICE`s first mega-hit, and a firm South African favourite, is back on stage this year completely reimagined – with as much fun, cheek, exuberance, colour, music, dance, high energy, wit, gags, quirkiness and dazzle as ever.

…in fact, “what it all boils down to, is that JOSEPH is an absolute blast!“ The Citizen

Earl Gregory stars as Joseph, the role that launched his career in 2005 and for which he won the Naledi Award for BEST MALE NEWCOMER. Earl has gone on to perform in Jesus Christ Superstar, CATS and Sweeney Todd.

Making a welcome return to the Pieter Toerien theatres is Bianca Le Grange (Blood Brothers) as the Narrator.
Musical theatre fans will be delighted at the news that audience favourite Jonathan Roxmouth (Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, CATS, Sunset Boulevard, A Handful of Keys, I`m Playing Your Song, etc) will work his magic as the PHAROAH!As with the 2004 production, the creative team is headed by Director Paul Warwick Griffin, with Musical Supervision by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder and Musical Direction by Louis Zurnamer. Choreography is by David Gouldie.

From the humble beginnings of its first performance on a cold winter afternoon at the Old Assembly Hall Hammersmith, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT has gone on to become one of the most recognized musical productions worldwide; has won Tony, Olivier and Drama Desk Awards and has a place in The Guinness Book of Records for the world`s longest running touring musical.

The first production of JOSEPH in South African in the 1970`s made household names of Richard Loring, who played The Narrator, Alvon Collison, who amazingly, stayed upright in the high platform boots of Pharaoh, and Bruce Millar, who stole everyone`s heart as Joseph.

The production in 2004|2005 was another first – the beginning of an on-going tradition of `bonsai` musicals conceived by Pieter Toerien for audiences at his theatres in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Now it`s time, ten years later, to bring back to the stage a newly imagined production of this family favorite that still features all of the fun, lighthearted, magical songs like Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To me and One More Angel In Heaven.

And together with the 23-strong South African cast and a creative dream-team, this year`s Bonsai Musical will be a “A TECHNICOLOR TRIUMPH? for the whole family to enjoy!
