Johannesburg, 19 February 2018 – The Grand Finale of Top Model South Africa (TMSA) was hosted on the 17th of February 2018, in the Big Top Arena at Carnival City.

This spectacular event, brought to life by renowned Choreographer and Producer, Willie Venter, wowed thousands of spectators as more than 80 finalists from all over the country competed for this prestigious award.

But at the end, it was Melissa Magiera (22) from Cape Town, and Alexander Jenkinson (18) from Cullinan, who walked away with the title of Top Model South Africa!

“Winning Top Model SA is a dream come true for me,” says Melissa, a professional dancer with more than 10 years experience. “Always believe in yourself, no matter what. Hard work and determination will get you what you truly want.” “The harder I worked the luckier I got,” adds Alexander. “It still feels so unreal.”

The Fresh Face category was won by 19 year-old Jayme Scott from Roodepoort. “I am so proud of myself,” says the charismatic beauty. “It took a lot of self-discipline and hard work, but it all paid off. This is life changing.” The Fresh Face category is specifically for those girls who don’t qualify for the international model height requirements, but have striking features none the less.

TMSA is by far the biggest platform to be discovered as model in South Africa. All previous winners of this annual model search have been signed by leading model agencies, not only locally but internationally as well. Both Melissa and Jayme have just been signed by Fanjam, one of the most prestigious model agencies in the country based in Cape Town. Alexander has a number of meetings lined up with various top agencies to discuss management, and is ready to pursue his career as professional male model.

Top Model South Africa has once again produced some amazing new faces. Apart from the winners, various 2018 finalists have also been approached by leading agencies, making TMSA the most successful scouting platform in the country.

Last year, Deidré Engelbrecht and Dean Alberts won the title and handed over their crowns to the new title-holders. This year, judges were former Generations actress Sophie Ndaba, radio presenter Jacques du Preez and Top Model SA chief executive Suzette Marais.
